When Joan is not jotting, she is usually jabbering. She loves to talk and would someday like to get paid as a speaker. Until then, she is willing to jabber for free. She has been invited to speak to a group of nursing students at a local university at least six times over the past few years. (This particular nursing program does a unit on oncology. Joan has spoken about her experiences with cancer as both a patient and a caregiver.) She can also speak intelligently and with candor about raising a child with a chronic disease. Or, she can channel her inner comic and speak with humor about life, death, cancer, single parenthood, online dating, aging parents, pets, you name it. She hopes that someday she will have an opportunity to motivate audiences with her gift of gab, and she prays that it is soon. She can barely hold it all in any longer!
